Ontario PCs Connect Over Half a Million More People to Family Doctors and Primary Care Teams

Our Ontario PC team is delivering real results when it comes to strengthening health care, connecting more than 511,000 additional people to a family doctor or primary care team since launching our $3.4 billion Primary Care Action Plan in 2025.

Under the leadership of Doug Ford, we’re making it easier for people across the province to get the care they need, closer to home.

Ontario already leads Canada in access to primary care, with nearly 90 per cent of people connected to a family doctor or primary care team. And we’re building on that progress.

Since January 2025, more than 470,000 people have been cleared from the Health Care Connect waitlist, bringing wait times down to their lowest levels in more than a decade.

Our Ontario PC government is also making historic investments to grow our health-care workforce and expand access to care.

Since 2018, Ontario has added more than 20,000 physicians to its health-care workforce, including a 14 per cent increase in family doctors. We’re also supporting more than 190 new and expanded primary care teams through our latest expansion efforts, helping connect another 500,000 people to care.

And we’re not stopping there.

Our Ontario PC team is exceeding its initial targets and remains ahead of schedule in our commitment to connect everyone in the province to a family doctor or primary care team by 2029.

While others talk about fixing health care, our Ontario PC team is delivering results. We’re protecting Ontario’s health-care system, bringing more family doctors into our communities and making sure more families can access the care they need, when and where they need it.
